A woman by the name of Estrella Carrera was found dead in a bathtub of her home on Friday, her wedding day, still wearing her wedding dress.

Estrella Carrera's wedding day turned into the last day of her life as the newly married woman was stabbed to death on that very same day. Police showed up at her apartment, which is located outside of Chicago, and discovered her corpse in a dry bathtub. She was still wearing her wedding gown. She had been stabbed multiple times across her body.

According to details, Estrella Carrera had not told many people that she was getting married. Quite a few people were surprised to find out that she was discovered dead wearing her wedding dress. The news even surprised her neighbors, who said that Carrera was a quiet and reserved woman but she was not a bad neighbor and just kept to herself. Her neighbors said they had always seen her alone except for her two children.

Estrella Carrera had a 9-year-old daughter and a 2-year-old son, who both used to live with her. On this past Friday, Estrella Carrera married the father of her 2-year-old son. Her husband is a 30-year-old man with whom she had had an on-and-off relationship for three years. The police also investigated him, but he has been cleared of all suspicions related to Carrera's death.

On the day of her marriage, Estrella Carrera's children were at their father's place and she was supposed to pick them up by 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. However, when she did not show up till Sunday, her family dispatched police for a well-being check.

"We never thought this would happen; she was a strong woman,” Jaime Lopez, a cousin, told the Tribune. “She loved her kids."

According to her relatives, Carrera called up several of her relatives a few days before her wedding to invite them to a party. To most of them, she did not mention that she was getting married and apparently wanted to keep it a surprise. According to some of her cousins, she might have kept the wedding a secret because most of her cousins had not approved the man she was getting married to.

The Chicago police are investigating Estrella Carrera's case, which has been ruled as a homicide, but so far, not a lot of leads have been attained.
