n recent news there has been close to 49 bodies found decapitated by a highway outside Mexico City, Mexico. The Mexican officials have stated that the recent killings were by one of the larger of the cartel organizations called Zeta. With a sign stating “100% Zeta” written on a nearby highway sign, conclusions could be drawn about who was to blame.
49 heads chopped off the bodies of ordinary people. The Mexican federal police are saying that the normal population was not targeted in these recent killings. That is a load of garbage. This has been a common message among the two largest cartels in Mexico. The other gang being the SInaloa Cartel. This method of intimidation is utilized as a message for not only the authorities but also to the local population. The message being, look what happens if you mess with us.

The stark reality of the situation has come, the gang Zeta has claimed full responsibility over the the killings. The murdering and mutilation of 49 bodies just this one day. Since 2006 there have been 50,000 killings in Mexico that have been related to the cartels. It is literally a war zone in which there is no law. With the government saying there are no civilians that are targeted, the local population are right in the middle of the war. The police are stuck deep in the cartel pockets, and more than likely help in profiting from the huge drug trafficking into the United States.
When an organized gang openly murders and displays headless corpses onto a freeway you know the country has gone a little under. The police have no old on the country, and thousands are dying. The scariest part of this whole situation is that merely an hour or two from one of the most violent parts of the world, Juarez, is the United States.
This more than anything affects the safety of American lives, at least more the invasion of Iraq. While the US protects its own borders it waits to see how bad Mexico can possibly get. It can get much worse. Every month there are beheading such as this. I am not saying that the US needs to invade Mexico to help them straighten them out. I am just saying that if we don’t take a more active role in trying to solve these violent men, and their actions it will spill into the US. When it does it will be too late.
Even now crime rates steadily rise in American cities where the Mexican drug cartels can sell their drugs and hold sway. The seeds are being sown for this violence to spread.
