Famous ABC TV series "Desperate Housewives'" two-hour finale on Sunday closes Bree's trial, paving way for the final goodbye to Wisteria Lane and the housewives that had influenced each others' lives over the past eight seasons.
The series gives a happy ending to all housewives with the exception of Karen McCluskey (Kathryn Joosten), the irritable but loving senior who had cancer and dies peacefully at her home in the end. She also saves Bree Van de Kamp (Marcia Cross), who was on trial for murder, which was unintentional and the culprit was Carlos (Ricardo Antonio Chavira), the husband of Gabrielle (Eva Longoria). Karen confesses to the crime to help her friends. Apart from her false declaration, Karen also tells a brief summary of her life in the neighborhood. She says, "It's not just a bunch of houses in the same place. It's a community — people who care about each other."
The case is closed against Bree, who finally controls her fear of obligation and settles down with her lawyer, Trip (Scott Bakula), after he convinces her that her bitter past does not matter anymore.
Lynette (Felicity Huffman) and Tom (Doug Savant), whose marriage was heading downhill, reunite lovingly in the street of Wisteria Lane.
The wedding celebration of Renee (Vanessa Williams) and Ben (Charles Mesure) is in full bloom, with all the expected chaos and excitement. For instance, when they are on the way to the marriage function, Renee's costly gown is ruined by pregnant Julie, whose water breaks while she is seated beside her. Gabrielle helps her steal a replacement gown from a bridal store.
Then, Julie (Andrea Lauren Bowen), the daughter of Susan (Teri Hatcher), gives birth at the hospital. The wedding reception takes place and Karen dies. Birth, marriage and death are portrayed nicely in the emotional finale of the series.
The life of this show was the four housewives - career-oriented woman and worn-out mom Lynette, sexy and stubborn Gabrielle, good-natured and naive Susan and no-nonsense homemaker Bree.
The four women will go their own separate ways, living out their lives elsewhere, but peacefully. Lynette goes to New York in pursuit of her desires and accepts a job by Katherine. Susan is off to live with her granddaughter. Bree ties the knot with her lawyer and Gaby finds success with her own show on the Home Shopping Network.
But before it ends, Susan takes a last round of the neighborhood and ghosts of previous residents except Nicolette Sheridan (Edie) look at her.
