The Avengers dominates the box office in its second week. The film brought in $ 103.7 million in week number two in the United States.
With that earning, The Avengers broke the record for second-weekend total which was previously held by James Cameron’s Avatar with $ 75.6 million. In just ten days, The Avengers has earned $ 373.1 million in North America. Good news for the film coming from the international front. The Avengers has already broken the $ 1 billion mark. Way to go for Joss Whedon and the gang.
Dark Shadows was the only major opening this week. The date for the release was poorly chosen as it went head to head with the Marvel crew. Johnny Depp’s fangs were no match landing it in second place with $ 38 million. It earned $ 36.7 million overseas but it still has a lot to go through to reach the reported $ 150 million budget. Think Like a Man is holding on to the third spot earning an additional $ 6.3 million while The Hunger Games follows in fourth place with $ 4 million. Leaving the top ten list are The Raven, Safe and The Three Stooges.
