Roger Federer outscored Tomas Berdych and win the Madrid Open 3-6 7-5 7-5.

Switzerland’s Roger Federer who now replaces Rafael Nadal as world number two said, the tournament was tough and a brutal draw. He praised the CzechTomas Berdych who played very well and he was sure they will see each other many more tournaments and will be quality matches like this one.

Federer was beaten by Berdych the world number six twice this year, but the Swiss got his own back on Madrid's notorious blue courts. The triumph was his third Mardrid title and the 20th Masters tournament of his career.
