His statements goes viral and earned negative and positive reactions. In an interview with ABC New's, Obama explained why he support same-sex marriage.
“It wouldn’t dawn on them that somehow their friends’ parents would be treated differently. It doesn’t make sense to them. And frankly, that’s the kind of thing that prompts a change of perspective -- not wanting to somehow explain to your child why somebody should be treated differently when it comes to eyes of the law.”
Celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres, and applaused President Obama's announcement.
Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres tweeted: "Thank you President @BarackObama for your beautiful and brave words. I'm overwhelmed."
ane Lynch said: "Pretty darn happy today. Thanks Mr President, for supporting the dignity of my family and so many others!"
Lady GaGa added: "Obama, congratulations on being the first sitting President to support marriage equality. Feels like the future, and not the past. #NoFear"
For President Obama,"Treat others the way you would want to be treated."We need to recognize that people are going to have differing views on marriage and those views, even if we disagree strongly, should be respected."
Catholic Church disagreed to the President annoucement supporting same- sex marriage. For Timothy Cardinal Dolan it's like another foot soldier taking marching orders from Vatican, giving you what would have passed for englightened thought on this subject in maybe the 14th century.
“We cannot be silent in the face of words or actions that would undermine the institution of marriage, the very cornerstone of our society . . . . May we all work to promote and protect marriage, and by so doing serve the true good of all persons.”
It was the President decision and everybody have their own opinion whether to like it or not. It favorable for those who are gay and not for those who are against gay marriage. Whatever your reaction is , everyone have the right to be treated fairly.
