A fourteen-year old boy was charged with murder after his 9-year old half-sister was discovered dead, hanged on a tree near their rural house in Alabama on Thursday. The boy admitted the slaying and his motives of hanging the girl but police did not release it.
Katelynn Arnold, the victim and her teen half-brother stay with their foster aunt and uncle in Ragland, a town near Birmingham. An autopsy conducted by county sheriff showed the cause of Katelynn’s death as homicide due to ligature strangulation, reports Huffington Post.
Reportedly, the boy tied the cotton rope in a simple knot around the victim’s neck, but was not a hangman's noose. Authorities on Friday charged the boy with murder, facing juvenile delinquency. They were yet to decide whether the accused will be tried as adult.
