A Bikini Open competition held Friday in the town of Jaro, one of the six districts in the city of Iloilo, Philippines, could have been celebrated in a festive bash but instead ended in a bloody shootout which resulted in the killing of four people and injuring four others, ABS-CBN News said.
Witnesses said a group of participants headed by Police Office 3 Jerome Jacolino was occupying a table inside the covered court during the competition when the village captain, Barangay Chairman Rolando Tabuada, approached to confront them for drinking inside the venue.
But when Tabuada tried to stop the police officer from hurting a waiter who was collecting a P3,000 bill for the three cases of beer and food snacks they have ordered, a gunshot rang out knocking him down from the spot he was standing dead.
Tabuada’s companion rushed to his aide and exchanged fire with the policeman’s group emptying more than 100 shells from various calibers which were later recovered from the scene.
The fatalities aside from Tabuada were, police officer Jerome Jacolino, one Remy Jacolino, and Avelino Sabadidas. The four wounded were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
