According to an article in the China Daily - the situation in Syria is considered "vague to a large extent." Parties to the conflict have made entirely different explanations about the developments, especially about the violence against civilians.
The newspaper claims that the "U.S. military intends to forcibly intervene until the Syrian regime is overthrown" (see article: "Finding out truth crucial to resolving Syrian crisis" http://english.peopledaily.com.cn/90780/
ENDING THE OBSERVER MISSION IN SYRIA
Last month, the Arab League made a choice to withdraw its “Observer Mission from Syria” – a move that has been criticized by some people, praised by others as it was seen to be causing more violence in Syria, which is involved in a civil war type situation.
US USING UNMANNED AIRCRAFT IN SYRIA
The Chinese newspaper also reported that the United States has been using “unmanned scouting aircraft circling over Syria to collect "evidence that the Syrian regime is suppressing the opposition.”
"The US is technically violating Syrian air space in the process. This could be seen as a provocative act, even an act of war in some cases", says Mark Maldinato of Charlotte, N.C.
The newspaper said it is hard to say whether or not the unmanned drones in the sky can find out the true "nature of the conflicts on the ground"...which is totally legitimate.
“This news is shocking, using unmanned drones seem more a preparation for war than trying to help resolve the conflict”, says Gilbert Talyor of Charlotte, N.C. The Chinese report does confirm various foreign press articles which indicated the US is flying drones in Syria (see article: "US drones monitor events in Syria": report http://www.france24.com/en/20120218-us-d
CHINA SEEKS THE TRUTH IN SYRIA
“Only after knowing this background, can we fully understand the significance of the Chinese diplomat's visit to Syria”, the article said.
The Chinese officials “met with the Syrian officials, but also contacted the opposition representatives”, so as to thoroughly find out all respects about the complex and sensitive situation and the appeals of all parties. This is something the US has refused to do?
Regarding the Syria issue, the article continues “the Chinese government will be aboveboard and highly responsible. China has no intention to shield any party, but will base its policy on the merits of the matter itself and stick to the basic norms in handling international relations.”
China has been critical of US military interventionism around the world. It sees these actions as being counter- productive in the long run.
Reading Chinese newspaper gives you a totally different perspective than what you are being spoon fed by entertainment based news organizations in the US. “The difference in coverage on the Syria issue is like night and day in many cases”, says Hugh Boone of Charlotte, N.C. “It’s something you have to be aware of when you watch the news here in the US”, he said.
