The Avengers" continues to fly high and most likely would become a world-beater, having an overall global gross past the $700 million mark in just 13 days of release.
At the foreign box office on Monday, which was a public holiday in the U.K. and Russia, Disney and Marvel Entertainment's superhero tale garnered another $28.4 million.
Its overseas total to $475.8 million plus its domestic gross of $226.4 million, the film has now brought in $702.2 million worldwide.
"The Avengers" has already overtaken the total global box-office pull for the following film: "Captain America," garnered $364M; "Thor," brought in $449; "Iron Man," grossed $585M and "Iron Man 2," $624M.
The said film would become the first Marvel’s film to break the $1billion mark in worldwide grosses.
The movies “Avatar” and “Titanic,” the all-time box-office leaders pulled up $2.7 billion in 2009 and $2.1 billion in 1997 respectively. Those two films seemingly out of reach, however “The Avengers” could very well go beyond last year’s “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2,” which towed $1.3 million worldwide.
