Illinois dad brands his 11-year old son with a hot iron for stealing $1

35-year old Josue Manrique of Joliet, Illinois, was not only angry and annoyed but frustrated as well because he had lost a bet in a boxing match - he had to let off steam, somehow.

On the way back home, he had trouble with starting his car and, on top of all that, he had been drinking.

The sum total of all these factors was that he was in a foul mood when he got back home and discovered one dollar missing from his purse.

He immediately pounced upon his son and began to beat him with a leather belt to extract a confession because he believed that his son had stolen it.

When the confession did not come, he took the hot iron and began branding his 11-year old son – he began with the boy’s arm and then went to his chin.

Josue Manrique is now held by the police on charges of child assault and a bail of $100,000 has been marked for his release.
