Charlotte North Carolina. National Basketball Association (NBA) sources tell Yahoo Sports are setting a meeting with Hall of Fame center Patrick Ewing who is an assistant coach with the Orlando Magic for the last five years to be interviewed for the head basketball coaches job in Charlotte to replace the former basketball coach Paul Silas who will not return to coach the team after Bobcats had the league's worst record in the 2011-12 basketball season.

Ewing will be interviewed after the Magic's Eastern Conference playoff run is finished since league rules forbid assistant coaches to be interviewed during the playoffs by other teams.

Charlotte Bobcats owner Michael Jordan is close friends with Ewing. The Bobcats also have on their wish list of coaching candidates former Portland Trail Blazers coach Nate McMillan and Golden State assistant coach Mike Malone.

The Bobcats officials flew to Oakland to interview Malone on Tuesday. The catch is for the Bobcats to get their dream coach is to be willing to spend money to hire the best players and coaches and give the coach some power to make some input on which players to hire to make the Bobcats a winning team.
