Jayson Werth Injury : Nationals RF Out With Broken Wrist

Renowned right fielder Jayson Werth for the Washington Nationals has broken his left wrist in a match against the Philadelphia Phillies. The match was being played on a Sunday and Jayson was attempting to make a sliding catch against the opposition.

Washington manager Davey Johnson talked about the unfortunate accident after his team lost the match. He said, "It's a clean break" and "He's going to be out for a while," according to a report by the Washington Post. His injury will be examined by a specialist who will be able to decide his possible date of return in the squad.

Werth was injured in the sixth inning of the match. His glove came under him because of which he lost his balance and toppled over his wrist backward trying to grab Placido Polanco's sinking liner. He remained on the ground for a while and later threw the ball back in the field. Media reporters were trying to get hold of him, but he remained unavailable to address any questions or concerns.

Jayson Werth isn’t the only injured player in the squad. The Washington Nationals have been suffering lately due to injuries. Prior to Jayson, Michael Morse got his back muscle injured because of which he wasn’t able to play the rest of the matches. In addition to these players, Ryan Zimmerman, a third baseman, has been out of the squad for a while now due to a dislocated shoulder. Adding to the long list of injured players is cleanup hitter Adam LaRoche, who has ended up missing the past four games due to a sore right side muscle.

According to the Huffington Post, Davey Johnson seemed to be quite optimistic about dealing with all these injuries. He issued another statement, saying, "All of a sudden we seem to be getting a little more healthy and then boom, another one of our main guys goes down.” Johnson further added, "We've dealt with it before we'll deal with it again. We're not alone. It seems like it's rampant right now. It's a tough blow."

As far as Jayson Werth is concerned, he also missed an important season in 2006 due a wrist injury that came at a very bad time and left negative repercussions on his career. Let’s hope he recovers from this one soon and gets back to the squad in a mutually beneficial spot.
