At least 18 people died in a jeep and truck collided near the town of Moga of Punjab state of India on 7.5.

The accident occurred on the Ludhiana-Ferozepur highway at 2 am(local time), the capital of Chandigarh about 170 km, according toThe Times of India.

When the jeep which was heavily damaged, forcing rescue workersto find ways to dismantle the car to take the bodies out.

Police said 14 people died at the scene, four others died after being taken to hospital.

"All the dead are walking on the jeep," a policeman said. The victimwas on his way back home after visiting a temple near the town ofJagraon.

Officials say while trying to accelerate to pass another car, truckcrash on the aforementioned jeep. Truck driver fled.
