A body was found in the trunk of a burned out car early Sunday near Black Diamond, Wash., prompted the King County Sheriff's Office to instigate an investigation.
A resident of the area spotted the car on fire on SE328th Street at SE Auburn Black Diamond Road shortly at about 4:10 a.m. Sunday, County Sheriff's spokeswoman Sgt. Katie Larson said. Firefighters responded to the call and found a Toyota Camry gobbled up in flames. After the fire was put out, an investigator was called in and made a ghastly discovery - the burned remains of a body in the trunk of the car, Larson said.
Detectives from the King County Sheriff's major crimes unit immediately responded to the area and began painstakingly collecting evidence. The victim found in the car’s trunk was not immediately determined whether it was a male or a female. Larson said that they are going to start at the very beginning and work this thing through.
Neighbors in the remote heavily wooded area say it is usually very quite out there, and in fact it is a favorite destination for weekend cycling groups.
