I will offer some of my fondest memories of the music Adam and the Beastie Boys had given to me when I was younger. Because the band I will initial as BB came out with albums from the 80's till today. Their music combined punk, rap, and rock and roll. They used simple rhymes that grabbed your attention and refused to let go.
The anthem of many young kids, and teenagers had been Fight for Your Right to Party. This was song is still sung today as a way to express the frustration of youth, and the generations of young people that just wanted a voice of their own.
Generations later they are still producing albums, some that resonate with fans of the past and the music of today. Song such as intergaltaic had a unique sound and touch that cannot be found anywhere else in other bands.
I was won over by their music when I was over at my friends house creating a fanstastic stop motion Transformers clip, when the song busted in from the radio. Brass monkey that funky monkey, wow amazing lyrics. I had no idea what they meant at the time but the bass line and the harsh fast words stuck with me. In the process making me a life long fan. Till this day if I want to get pumped up, or release my frustration I put on a Beastie Boys song and everything is right in the world.
So I say the world will be sadder for the loss of one my my favorite bands. Rest in Peace Adam Yauch
