Queen Elizabeth takes a leaf out of Duchess Kate’s book – Repeats dress

Ever since she entered the royal household, the former Kate Middleton and present Duchess has received nothing but praise for the commoner habits she has brought with her into royal life. Now it seems this behavior has not gone unnoticed by in-law Queen Elizabeth and she's using it to her advantage.

The main reason why the ordinary Brit feels a strong connect with Duchess Kate is her frugal ways. Even though the Duchess of Cambridge is royalty today and does not need to do so, yet she is prudent in her life-style choices.

One of the things Kate is famous for is her tendency to wear a dress more than once or recycle an old dress like any ordinary folk. But what is really surprising is that now even Queen Elizabeth seems to have taken a leaf out of Kate Middleton’s commoner book.

Her Majesty is following in Kate’s footsteps by repeating her own outfits. Recently, the aging British monarch showed up at the Mad Hatter’s event in a hot pink dress, an outfit she had worn when Kate Middleton accompanied her to the first event at Leicester as part of her Diamond Jubilee.

Amazingly instead of brick-bats, the Queen received the same kind of positive response as did Kate, a commoner before marrying Prince William. The Duchess indeed seems to be leading by example from inside the palace walls.

By wearing the dress for the second time, the Queen Elizabeth probably wanted to show that she is human too like all others. The point was strongly made because the dress she was wearing was anything but subtle in color; in fact the hot pink hat and coat stands out with its brightness and lively color.

One major point the Queen seems to have made by repeating her dress is that in these difficult economic times in Britain she is well-conscious of the purse. Moreover, instead of wearing a less eye-catching outfit, one toned down in color, she picked one that people wouldn't forget, to make sure her point was made.

Another crucial point to be noted by the Queen’s recent lifestyle behavior is that while any commoner may try and change the accessories or add a scarf to give the impression that their outfit is new, the Queen wore everything exactly the same way, even the brooch on her coat and the pearl necklace. Well, if there is any truth to the saying ‘imitation is the highest form of flattery,’ then Duchess Kate has been given one, albeit silently by her grandmother-in-law.
