Smallest surviving baby

Carolina Terzis may be the smallest baby in Brazil. When she was born in November, she weighed only 12 ounces and was 27 centimeters in length.

Her mum, Alexandra Terzis, 32, gave birth four months early after suffering a seizure and symptoms of eclampsia. Last week she was finally allowed to take her pocket sized youngster home for the first time. Carolina now weighs a healthy 7lbs 4oz.

Carolina miraculous survival is a credit to the doctors at Hospital Vila da Serra, near Nova Lima in the state of Minas Gerais.

Eclampsia is a life-threatening condition that develops in susceptible pregnant women. Eclampsia symptoms include, increased blood pressure suddenly, seizures, or resurrection.
