A New Jersey mother, who was charged of a second- degree child endangerment pleaded not guilty in Newark Municipal Court on Wednesday. She denied the accusation of taking her 5-year old daughter into a tanning booth saying “it’s all made up.”
Patricia Krentcil, who appeared deeply tanned during an interview at Fox 12 Oregon, admitted that her now 6-year old daughter “was in the room at the salon but not in the stand-up tanning booth” and “she just got sunburned by being outside on an unseasonably warm day.”
Calling herself a “wonderful mother, Mrs. Krentcil said she would never endanger her child by putting her into a tanning booth. “I’m not dumb,” she said. Reportedly, the girl stayed outside with her father and brother while Krentcil was inside the tanning booth. She is free on $2,500 cash bond and her next court appearance is scheduled for June 4.
Meanwhile, Krentcil’s lawyer, John Caruso, said the defendant is 150 percent innocent and she will be exonerated as the evidence will prove that the child didn’t enter the tanning booth.
The owner of the salon also told reporters that the girl stayed outside the tanning booth.
