McDonald’s is going to be one of the largest sponsors for the Olympic Games being held in London this year. The chain is planning to set up the biggest McDonald’s restaurant in London to cater for the huge demand. The restaurant is going to be the biggest among the chain’s existing restaurants and would operate for the duration of the Olympic games.
The largest restaurant by McDonald’s would be having the capacity for 1500 visitors at a time and would require a large team of workers to carry out the operations. An estimate is made that 2000 workers are going to be employed for the place to meet the needs.
As the new restaurant would be built especially for the Olympics, the meals would be served with some innovative ideas for the children to create awareness regarding a healthy lifestyle. They would include toys for the kids to encourage them to adopt a healthy and active routine and involve in physical activities.
The fast food chain is introducing the campaign about children’s health because it has been considered a contributor to the increasing rate of obesity worldwide for long and has been facing criticism from health organizations as well as people who are more health conscious.
McDonald's global chief brand officer Kevin Newell explained about their campaign for the Olympics, saying, "Most people when they talk about children's well-being, they go immediately to the food, but … it's also about education and activity. And the Olympics will set us up very nicely to launch a few things around children's well-being," as reported by Yahoo News..
For the big companies like McDonald’s, criticisms on little things can lead to huge losses. They need to adopt strategies that enable them to maintain a good reputation and increase their customer base.
