New York City New York. San Antonio Spurs basketball coach Gregg Popovich was awarded the National Basketball Association (NBA) Coach Of The Year Award on Tuesday. The San Antonio Spurs won 50 games in a lockout shortened season.

Popovich is a two time winner of this award. He also won the award in 2003. The Spurs are the number one seed in the Western Conference and are favored to win another title this season. The last NBA lockout was in 1999 and the Spurs won the NBA title season as well.

Popovich receive 77 first place votes, Chicago Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau received 27 first place votes, Indiana Pacers coach Frank Vogel (7), Memphis Grizzles coach Lionel Hollins (6), Boston Celtics coach and Denver Nuggets coach George Karl got 1 vote each.
