The blind lawyer and civil rights activist, Chen Guangcheng , left the embassy of the United States in Beijing, announced the news agency China news, Wednesday, May 2 Rumors that the dissident had found refuge rustled since his escape, but the United States had always refused them confirm .

It is however a U.S. official said that Chen was transferred to a medical unit in Beijing and his family are going to join . In the wake of the announcement, China demanded an apology from the United States to have hosted Chen Guangcheng. Expressing its "strong dissatisfaction", Beijing accused Washington of interfering in the internal affairs of the country.

Earlier, the official Chinese newspaper Global Times was the first newspaper in the country to discuss the case of evasion. "The Sino-US relations should not be affected by the incident around Chen Guangcheng," thought to know a columnist on the day of the arrival of the chief U.S. diplomat Hillary Clinton in Beijing for the annual strategic dialogue between the two countries. Beijing and Washington would resolve this thorny issue before the start of bilateral talks and negotiate an agreement allowing Chen to leave China for the United States with his family, had said Tuesday Bob Fu, the Christian activist organization China Aid , based in Texas.

Chen Guangcheng, who disbanded the abuse of the one-child policy in China and expropriation, escaped from his home in Shandong, where he was under house arrest for nineteen months and Friday sent a message through the Internet Premier Wen Jiabao , on his ordeal. In this message, the civil rights activist, aged 40, complained of beatings and harassment by thugs of the regime which he was the victim and his family since the beginning of his unofficial house arrest. According to China Aid, the escape of Mr. Chen, who was revealed Friday, was held April 22.

According to the Chinese version of Global Times "Chen Guangcheng is not Fang Lizhi [astrophysicist refuge in the U.S. embassy following the "Beijing Spring" in 1989], it is not Lijun Wang [ the right arm of the recently deposed leader Bo Xilai, briefly refugee in February at the American Consulate in Chengdu] "." Most of these complaints are those of a village for local officials to a very low level, "the paper said. The Global Times editorial has not been posted on the Chinese version of the website daily.
