The much-hyped pregnancy of Jessica Simpson is finally over and the fans can safely let go of the breaths they had been holding for 9 months, as Simpson has announced the birth of her baby girl, Maxwell Drew Johnson.
The baby takes her middle name from her maternal grandmother, whose maiden name was Drew, and her last name from Simpson’s yet to be husband, fiancé and former football player Eric Johnson. Simpson was right, the name is nothing that we haven’t heard before; however, it is unique in the sense that Maxwell is often taken for a boy rather than a girl.
"Eric and I are elated to announce the birth of our baby Maxwell Drew Johnson 9 lbs. 13 oz. 21 3/4," Simpson wrote on her website Tuesday. "We are so grateful for all of the love, support and prayers we have received. This has been the greatest experience of our lives!"
The baby arrived in luxurious maternity suite that was rented for a cool $4000 a day and boasted flat screen TVs, chilled juices on ice, muffin baskets, manicure and pedicure for drained out new moms and a private dinner for two following the delivery, according to a report by TMZ.
"Eric and I love each other so much, and knowing that I love this baby inside of me is so amazing--I love it so much and I haven't even met them yet," Simpson gushed soon after she broke the news of her pregnancy last Halloween as she posted a photo of herself all wrapped in mummy bandages confirming that she will be becoming a mummy soon. "I can't imagine how much love we'll have for it once it finally comes!"
The arrival of her much-awaited baby also means that Simpson can once again slip into her signature heels that she had been missing for so long.
The 30-year-old singer was previously married to Nick Lachey (from 2002 till 2005 or till their separation). Two years after their divorce, she started dating Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo (from 2007 till 2009) until she finally found her true flame, Eric Johnson. Lachey, along with his wife, Vanessa, has sent Simpson a gift to her hospital suite in Cedars-Sinai to celebrate the birth of her first child, according to a report by Hollywood Life. The basket included seven large pink and white gourmet cookies with baby decorations on it.
