At 18 years old, Dakota Fanning (“War of the Worlds”} was the youngest guest who attended the White House correspondents’ dinner at Washington Hilton Hotel Ballroom last Saturday. She was a doting grand daughter, daughter, sister, a friend and an acquaintance of everyone attending the dinner. She could be a grand daughter for Secretary Colin Powell. She could be a daughter for syndicated columnist Arianna Huffington. She could be a daughter for George Clooney and a sister to the other younger guests.
During the dinner night, Fanning was described as one who “wore a slightly dowdy (albeit it event-appropriate) frock and matching metallic sandals. At least her mane looked luxurious!”
What did Fanning symbolize being a guest in that annual important White House event? She represented the youths of America. The young people she represented must take active participation and involvement in events that help mould the present and future of the United States of America.
Fanning just observing and taking notes of the proceedings of the event were in effect great learnings for the youths of America. Listening to the speaker like President Barack Obama or simply exchanging chats and pleasantries with her tablemates, Fanning contributed much to the success of the affair.
She was not able to talk much about anything specific about the politics of the current times, the radiance of her personality as she socialized with everyone, young or old was a wholesome experience for her. It was something different from the Hollywood events she is used to.
