In a video posted two months ago,was seen feeding her 10-month-old son, Bear Blu, in bird style. She has now responded to criticisms on her for it, saying she doesn’t think there is anything wrong with it and calling it a natural part of the weaning process.
The strange video appeared on the website of the 35-year-old actress, who was seen chewing the food and spilling it out from her mouth to her baby's mouth in it. The video, not just seemed odd, but let’s be frank, it was disgusting to see her do this. Silverstone defended herself on Entertainment Tonight, saying, "It's a part of the weaning process, so while I'm still breast-feeding it's just a way to introduce him to food when he doesn't have teeth… and he can't chew."
The video attracted more than 2 million views in just over one month with most commenting that Silverstone’s way of feeding her child was not hygienic. "I can understand that it would make some people feel uncomfortable, possibly, because it's new to them," the mother of Bear Blu, 10, said on Friday. "But I do want to let you know that this has been going on for thousands of years -- still going on all over the place -- and it's natural."
Silverstone also said that when her child was 5 months old and he didn’t have teeth, he would choke on the food that she used to give him. Whenever she used to eat he would come to her and try to take the food out of her mouth. That’s when she got the idea of feeding her child in this manner. Now that she has started pre-chewing the food for him, he has become the “healthiest and the happiest baby ever,” says Silverstone according to a report by US Magazine.
While most people think it’s gross to chew the food for your baby, there are some who have actually been doing exactly what Alicia did and say their children never fell sick. “When you can blow on the food to make sure its not too hot for your child, why cant you chew it, to make easier for them to swallow and digest?” one fan writes.
Well, Silverstone is doing only what she thinks is best for her Bear Blu. One can be sure that no mother can continue with a practice that threatens her child’s health.
