The political system of America has been undergoing a turmoil leaving it in a broken condition. Apart from the political successes of Obama’s regime, he has inherited a series of flaws in the system. Health care reforms, withdrawal of forces from Iraq and Afghanistan, financial services reforms and a bigger legislation in the last two years are fine to quote as the success tales of Obama. But we are talking about the political system which has been aching for decades and the current system is merely a follow suit. Continuum of policies have formed up a remarkable devoid in the American political system leading its segmentation instead of aggregation in its approach. A system which is moving at a tortoise pace, cannot guarantee the fillings of lags in politics, economy, and social sector at the same time. Power in America is scattered on the fair name of democracy but what we are taking out of it, is the silencing of voices raising their heads in the power avenues. We have legitimized the murder of voices with the help of 60 votes. Whatever may be the issue, how much it is worth, and whosoever is the responsible, we need super-majority requirement of 60 votes and the debate drowns into the sea of silence. It leaves the president Obama armless on one side, and the hot issues unresolved or left in lurch on the other. We cannot expect the toughness of Johnson from Obama in his decisions as the former needed the aforementioned majority in the super hot issues while all other affairs required a simple majority of 51 votes for a successful passage. Obama is constrained with his hands tied behind in the American senate. Power of 60 votes in the senate renders the senators in a state of real decision makers and ultimately, leaving the nation at the mercy of them. The whole political system gets stuck in their hands. In the international affairs, the super-majority requirement plays the same role. It can constrain the government to overrule any country or nation resulting in the bloodshed and massacre of those nations. Only 60 votes on one side and killing of thousands of people on the name of demilitarization and terrorism on the other. Hail to the American political system! The retreat or so-called withdrawal of the forces deployed in the Afghanistan and Iraq decided on mercy of 60 people again. What a pity! Just bargain the members of senate and get the ready decisions of your own choice. How to fix it? The American nation should not allow a minority to dictate the majority and consequently earn a bad name in the comity of nations on the international platform. They can make them change the policies and their partial executions. Simply getting a majority of 60 votes and taking decisions of gross importance should be replaced with the radical changes in the political system. The public should be directly involved in the major policies and decisions instead of being driven by the senators who can be bargained and can drive the nation towards any destination they want. Obama himself should plunge into the sea of ambiguities and come out with a clear picture of how much broken the system is. The basic answer will lead to the solution of the problem.
