New Yorkers are excited because the new World Trade Center building standing at a little over 381-meters will steal the show from the Empire State Building.
The new WTC building christened the Freedom Tower which is coming up can easily lay claim to being the tallest skyscraper in the US as reported in The Australian dated 30th April 2012.
The original WTC was destroyed in the 9th September 2001 terror attack when aircraft crashed into it and took the lives of thousands of innocents and left behind a mound of debris.
Work on the Freedom Tower is advancing and it might take another year for completion.
Once complete, it would be declared as the tallest building in the US and the third tallest in the world – there would be a 124-meter tall needle on top of the roof.
Of course, the title of the ‘tallest in the US’ would depend on whether the height of the needle is taken into consideration. Else, the Freedom Tower would have to be content with the 2nd place – with the 1st place to Willis Tower in Chicago.
