William and Kate are celeberating their first wedding anniversary today. On 29th April, 2011, the royal couple, Prince William and Duchess Catherine, tied the wedding knot with more than two billion people watching the ceremony on television. Today, as one year completes, the duo has reportedly managed to escape to a private location to celebrate their big day.
The couple was spotted attending the wedding of Kate’s school pal in Suffolk, eastern England, on Saturday. "They spent the weekend privately with friends," A St. James' Palace spokesperson told AFP. "They're not celebrating their anniversary in any public way."
Kate was wearing the same navy blue dress she was seen when the couple was on the official tour to Canada - their first tour after the wedding. While it's been only one year, a renewed public interest in the monarch system has surfaced, and all the credit is being given to the couple. "Kate the Great wins us over," The Sunday Times says, while The Sunday Telegraph said about the royal family, "It's only been 12 months and already we wonder: how did they ever manage without her?"
In no time, the Duchess of Cambridge appeared to have quickly adjusted to her new life, adopting the royal ways while setting the trends in the fashion industry. Almost every thing she wears becomes the latest and hottest of everyone to follow. Her name also appeared in the Time Magazine among the 100 most influential people of the world.
At the time of their marriage, it was expected that besides their royal duties, the couple's next milestone would be to produce a heir to the throne. However, after one year, all that the fans can get their hands on is the couple’s cocker spinal puppy, Lupo. Both, William and Kate, have made it clear that whenever the heir will come, it will be a private event with no timeline or future date announced to the public.
Given the popularity of the couple, their plan to live as normal a life as possible failed soon after they settled into a small cottage in Wales and saw themselves surrounded by thousands of people, wishing to catch just a glimpse of the two.
During their one-year journey, the two have attended various charities, official events, gone on several tours and adjusted to their new life. In the coming few days, they will be touring South Pacific on behalf of the queen while the work on their Kensington Palace will be finishing off and waiting to welcome them.
