Jamrud blast kills two persons, wounds twenty

At least two persons were killed and twenty others including children were wounded at Jamrud blast. In a planted explosive device blast on Sunday here at Jamrud bypass road near a work shop two persons were killed and twenty were wounded, official and local sources said. The official sources said that the explosive material had been fitted in a Suzuki car which had been parked in a work shop at Jamrud bypass road near the Zakha Khel vehicles stand, which is some two kilometers away from Jamrud sports stadium where Jamaat-e-Islam has planned to hold a big public meeting on Monday morning.

The blast was of a very high intensity that shook the area that spread fear among the people, local sources said. Two persons were reportedly killed on the spot and twenty others received splinters and got wounded. The wounded persons were shifted to Jamrud and Peshawar hospitals for medical aid, sources said. Soon after the incident the Khasadar and forces officials rushed to the scène, cordoned off the area and adopted precautionary measures to avert further loss.

It is important to mention here that on last January 10th in huge bomb blast in Zekha khel vehicle stand at Jamrud bazaar 35 persons were killed and dozens others had sustained injuries. Local people have expressed fear that many more may die who have been reported in serious condition. APA Jamrud Jameel Khan while talking to media said that administration had taken all precautionary measures in advance and had shifted the Zakha khel vehicles’ stand to a place outside the Jamrud bazaar, saying there were informations about the explosive laden car, but unfortunately the tragic incident happened.

The blast occurred some two kilometers away from the Jamrud sports stadium where JI is all set to hold a huge gathering on Monday at any cost that would be participated by thousands of tribesmen, JI Khyber Agency secretary general Murad Hussein said. He also condemned the incident and regretted that some private TV channels floated concocted, biased and wrong news saying that the explosion went off very near to the sports stadium. He said that it was an attempt to sabotage the public meeting being scheduled by JI, which would be addressed by the top leadership of JI including Syed Munawar Hassan and Qazi Hussain Ahmad.
