In a pair of shocking overnight car wrecks in Long Island, three people were killed and three others were injured. In these two accidents only one car was involved and occurred just an hour apart in Brookhaven and Southampton.
The fatality was Willie Davies, 24 of Bellport, a former high school football star was killed when pal Jasheem Trent’s car turned turtle on Montauk Highway in Brookhaven at 3:18 am. Trent of East Patchogue, was brought to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center for serious injuries, police said.
It was reported that the men were leaving Painters’ bar and restaurant on South Country Road and was enroute to a friend’s house when the vehicle flippant.
In a separate incident, in Southampton, two members of the Shinnecock Indian reservation were killed and two were seriously injured when their car crashed into a tree. Killed were Jason King, 33, and Duane White, 22. after King lost control of his Lexus at East Gate Road and Hill Street. The Southampton Village Police Department said they are still investigating whether alcohol was involved.
The names of those who were injured were Awan Gumbs, 31, was brought to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital in East Patchogue for broken bones and Brian Bess Jr., 18, was transported by air to Stony Brook University Medical Center.
On Saturday afternoon, Shinnecock Indian Nation held a tense vigil that led to an attendee firing shots to drive away TV reporters.
