Clip of Derrick Rose Knee Injury

Although the Chicago Bulls defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 103-91 to go up 1-0 in this Eastern Conference playoff series, the Bulls were dealt a devastating blow when Derrick Rose landed awkwardly on his left leg with 1:30 to go in the game. At the time, the Bulls were up 99-87.

Rose is now out for the rest of the season and for the 2012 Summer Olympics with a torn ACL. The Bulls played well without Rose throughout the regular season, but the playoffs is a totally different scenario.

The key question is, "Why did head coach Tom Thibodeaux still have Rose in the game at this point?" The Bulls were up twelve with ninety seconds to go. Next, the Sixers weren't going to catch up; they already mailed this game in.

Plenty of Bulls have been dealing with injuries because Thibodeaux keeps players in the game too long. Rose was coming off of a groin injury that has hindered him the second half of the regular season. Yet in his first game back after resting his legs, Rose played 37 minutes. Luol Deng played 39 minutes with a broken wrist. The Bulls have one of the deepest benches in the NBA. Use it!
