A Buffalo boy beaten to death by stepdad last week, repeatedly called 911; revealed authorities on Friday. The 10-year-old boy, identified as Abdifatah Mohamud, called for help on numerous occasions since 2010. Eventually, he was killed by his stepfather Ali Mohamud.
Abdifatah Mohamud was subject to vicious physical torture at the hands of Ali Mohamud and he had warned about the abuse through several 911 calls. Authorities revealed further that matter is now being investigated by the Buffalo Police Department whether how officers responded to the said calls made by Abdifatah Mohamud in April 2011. It was on April 17 this year when Ali allegedly gagged poor fifth-grader using a sock.
Ali was further alleged of covering the 10-year-old’s mouth using duct tape following which; he beat the helpless little boy mercilessly. The victim was hit with a rolling pin for as many as 70 times, according to reports. Ali was thus arrested for second-degree murder, said police and added he is now awaiting a grand jury date. Ali, a 40-year-old security guard though confessed to the crime but he reportedly pleaded not guilty.
According to Mike DeGeorge, the spokesman for Buffalo Police Department, an internal investigation was opened by the police commissioner last week. The focus of investigation remains on the police involvement regarding this case; given the horrible and tragic nature of the innocent boy’s death; as well as the great public concern. Police had acknowledged responding though yet no arrest(s) were ever made, prompting Buffalo authorities looking at how domestic abuse call(s) are investigated.
This particular case was also investigated by the Erie County Child Protective Services but no orders were issued for the removal of Abdifatah from the home. Meanwhile, the boy’s mother also lived in the same house, revealed police reports.
