It was the catch of a lifetime for the five mates when they hooked a 3.3-meter monster mako shark as reported in heraldsun of 28th of April 2012.

The fishermen has a two hour struggle to overpower the monster roughly 4-Km south east of Green Cape near Eden.

The five were not professionals – they were in fact amateur anglers. They had put themselves in grave danger because the mako sharks are known to throw themselves on the decks and attack the fishermen.

It is unfortunate that they cannot claim any record since they had not followed the normal procedure of luring the shark!!

The mad ones were Sean Heinemann and his crew of Brad and Rocky Pinch.

The shark had a girth of over 2-meters and weighed between 450 to 530 Kg – and, they had killed it as humanely as possible.
