In a couple of days, Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge will be celebrating their first wedding anniversary and we’re all wondering what exactly the royal couple’s plans are for that milestone…
We all recall the pomp and ceremony with which the young royal couple’s wedding took place while the world watched the televised event but as it turns out, Catherine, a.k.a. Kate Middleton, and Prince William will be keeping a fairly low profile on that very special day, their first wedding anniversary, per British tabloid sources such as the Daily Mail.
A St James’s Palace spokesman stated that Kate and William will be spending this weekend “privately.”
Kate and William, however, have been keeping rather busy this week, making several public appearances, including taking part in a star-studded film premiere.
Yesterday April 26, 2012, Kate, dressed in her charcoal grey sheath by Amanda Wakeley with elbow-length sleeves and an unusual leather and metal chain belt, accessorizing with golden teardrop chandelier earrings, while William in one of his signature navy suits, teamed with a cobalt blue tie, attended a reception to help launch London’s Imperial War Museum Foundation's First World War Galleries as part of their Centenary Campaign.
What was particularly unusual was the elaborate way in which Kate’s hair was twirled into a loose bun, with rivulets of curls cascading down from it – very nice indeed!
The same day, the royal couple also attended a reception for the Scott-Amundsen Centenary Race at Goldsmiths Hall in London.
Word has it, Duchess Catherine wore a £15 enameled poppy brooch, which was sold to raise funds for the Poppy Appeal, which she had pinned to her royal blue tweed skirt suit, retailing for £600, by Australian-born, New York-based designer Rebecca Taylor. She accessorized with a matching kidney-shaped clutch bag.
Prince William is a patron of the Scott-Amundsen reenactment expedition recreated by two groups of soldiers and had also sent the men a message of congratulations when they reached their goal this January 2012.
On April 25, the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William attended the UK Premiere of Disneynature’s “African Cats” held at British Film Institute (BFI) on London’s Southbank.
Kate wore a striking pale gray knee-length sheath by designer Matthew Williamson that featured a distinct Egyptian motif turquoise gem and gold bead detailing along the neckline and elbow-length sleeves, accessorizing with black pumps and a small black clutch bag.
Whatever Kate and William do on their first wedding anniversary, we can be sure it will be a very special day indeed… Enjoy the slide show of what the royal couple have been up to recently!
