Ron Rodger, an 82-year old grandfather of three of Lennoxtown and a gymnast to heart still goes in for gymnastics and loves to show off his skills as reported in mailonline of 27th April 2012.
He is a 3-times champion of the British Veteran Gymnastics and retired from competitions in his early 70s. He now devotes his time and energy in imparting coaching to budding and up and coming gymnasts.
He retired as manager of gym 20-years ago.
He fell in love with gymnastics when he was 20-year old working as a first-aider in a boxing club – he was fascinated by the parallel bars and the pummel horses. He had worked as a steam engine fireman and cleaner at Perth railway and shoveling coal helped him build up his muscles.
He founded the Cumbernauld Gymnastics Club in 1969 and completed a parachute jump in Florida in 1995.
