While any other husband in his place would have felt unsettled at the enormous attention showered on his spouse, not Britain's Prince William. So self-assured is the Duke of Cambridge that he is extremely happy to see his wife Catherine’s popularity among the masses. That shows the robustness of their marriage.
The former Kate Middleton has been catapulted to the ranks of the most famous women in the world ever since she tied the knot with Prince William on April 29, 2011. However to his immense credit rather than feeling side-lined or even jealous at the massive attention from both the masses and the press, the Duke of Cambridge is said to be delighted that people have taken to Kate Middleton so quickly.
In this week’s Radio Times magazine, Queen Elizabeth’s cousin, Lady Elizabeth Anson, shares her thoughts about the ‘magic’ that Kate Middleton has brought to the royal family in the year following her marriage to Prince William. She told the magazine: 'I think that somebody has said to William, 'now this is how it is going to happen whether you like it or not'.
Lady Elizabeth then goes on to disclose how much Prince William adores his wife Catherine. ‘I think he loves her, cherishes her and nurtures her so much. He is just really proud of her and chuffed that all of the cameras follow her.'” According to Lady Elizabeth, Kate had weaved in “a sort of magic” to the family during her first year as a royal.
For long the British were looking for an icon especially after the demise of Lady Diana and now they have found it in a commoner Kate Middleton. “The people want glamour and I think she has given it to them in a wonderfully diverse way … She’s the real people’s princess,” declared the Queen’s cousin gushingly.
During the interview Lady Elizabeth also lauded the royal couple - who live in a farmhouse in Anglesey in Wales - for their down-to-earth approach to life. 'I do find it absolutely fascinating. That's them saying their thing: 'we haven't got cooks and butlers and cleaners coming out of our ears at home in Anglesey. We cook together; we do the washing up together. We lead a normal life,' she informed.
