Skooter reporting 04/27/12

When it come to box-office presales Marvel's "The Avengers" is demonstrating to be greater than the total of its superhero parts.

Just a week and a day to go before its domestic showing, the action pack “The Avengers” has already crushed the combined presale totals for “Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2,” “Thor” and “Captain America: The First Avenger” at the same moment in their respective release sequence, according to sales figures from MovieTickets.com.

The presale figures predict well also for the film's 3D and Imax prospects. Domestic audiences seem ready to slip on the 3D glasses, as 56% of paying moviegoers have paid to add an extra dimension to their viewing experience. The presales noted that nearly 37% bought IMAX 3D tickets.

Meanwhile in the overseas, "The Avengers" is pulling in $17.1 million from 10 markets in its first day of foreign release. In Australia it made $6.2 million , its second-best opening overall, behind only last year’s “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2.” The movie garnered $3.7 million in Italy, also a record for a Disney release. In Taiwan, the movie made $1.3 million and in New Zealand $800,000.

“The Avengers” starring Robert Downey Jr. again as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America and Chris Hemsworth plays the role of Thor. Scarlett Johansson in the role of Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye and Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk.
