
It’s results night for the six singing hopefuls on “American Idol”. Last night the singers performed music from the rock bnad Queen and a song of their own choosing. Each of the singers shined at one point of the night but one singer brought the judges to their feet not once but twice, as he has 10 other times in the season – Joshua Ledet.
Host Ryan Seacrest revealed that 58 million votes were cast in last night’s voting, some 10 million more than this time last year.
The night’s performances began with the premiere of Queen Extravaganza sang the Queen hit “Somebody to Love” in a performance that included audience participation, a flipping guitar player, and Queen. Judge Steven Tyler led the standing ovation.
The Idols make a little magic with the Ford Music Video.
The Idols went to TMZ for a little media training on how to handle the press; but it wasn’t all work, they had a little fun too.
Time for some results. The first pair is Jessica and Elise. Jessica is safe as one of the top three, but Elise is in the bottom three again after what Jimmy Iovine called a night of double bad song choices.
Casey Abrams makes a visit to the Idol stage to chat with Ryan before fellow Idol Stephano returns to the Idol stage to perform.
Back to the results with Joshua and Hollie. Hollie is in the bottom three; but Joshua is safe. Inida Arie, the woman who recorded “Ready for Love” sent a Twitter message to Joshua saying she got chills all over listening to Joshua sing her song.
Pop star Katy Perry performs “Part of Me”. The performance included video with helicopters flying in and dancers – including Perry herself – coming on the stage down a rope for a military themed performance.
The last results are for Skylar and Phillip. Phillip is safe, but even though Jennifer said Skylar had the best performance last night rounded out the bottom three.
Only a second or two after all three girls gathered at center stage, Ryan announced that he was making it the bottom two and saved Skylar.
Hollie is safe but Elise is eliminated from the competition.
