Walker and Billionaires visit Milwaukee M&I Bank Corporate Headquarters

Austerity doesn't work in the United States of America either. For example, take a look at the state of Wisconsin. Gov. Scott Walker has cut out collective bargaining for unions and has cut state jobs in the public arena, such as police officers, firefighters, and teachers.

The strategy that Gov. Walker is using is actually a form of austerity. Giving tax cuts to the wealthy by being harsh to the middle class and to the lower class is austere.

Gov. Walker claimed that this type of economic philosophy would allow for job creators within the state of Wisconsin to lower the unemployment rate even further.

However, in one and a half years in office, Wisconsin has become the worst state in records to employment. Over the past year, Wisconsin lost the most jobs out of any state. They were even worse than Illinois and California, states that are virtually bankrupt.

Wisconsin voters were duped because they did not recognize that Gov. Walker's economic plans were actually austerity. If austerity doesn't work in Europe, then it won't work anywhere else.

What a load! If Gov. Walker was in charge of the US Postal Service, perhaps it would not be bankrupt. Unions, for the most part, have outlived their usefulness. If the union employees were putting more money INTO the state budget that taking OUT, their existence would be fine.

Mr. scotamerican, your arguments concerning unions and the US Postal Service are way off. The US Postal Service went bankrupt due to a stipulation placed into the US budget by the GOP a few years ago in which the USPS was required to have a surplus to cover ten years of postal workers' benefits. Second, if there weren't any unions, then you, scotamerican, would be working for $4.50 per hour. No unions, less pay. Mr. scotamerican, when you comment on my site, then you need big-man arguments. Take the kilt off, Scottish man, and put on some big-boy pants.

Nice report. Is that Socialistic argument?

Don't you see that the day of the union is history? Unions have driven all manufacturing jobs off to China and now Vietnam. Unions are dinosaurs and they just don't know it.

Dartaz, I appreciate your wisdom. From some of the things I've read here, your input is badly needed...

Adrian, yes, I agree with you and austerity is not an "American brand."
