Police: Missing Madeleine McCann Could Still Be Alive

British police said on Wednesday that there is "a possibility" that Madeleine McCann, the girl disappeared in 2007 while on holiday in Portugal, is alive, and has urged the authorities of that country to reopen the case.

Scotland Yard has published a reconstruction of how the child would be today, with seven years of age. "We sincerely believe that there is a possibility that you are alive," said Andy Redwood, Division Homicide and Serious Crimes, told reporters. Andy Redwood, the inspector in charge of reviewing the case, told a news conference that the group of 37 agents who seeks to shed light on the Madeleine case detected 195 "avenues for investigation" after analyzing a portion of the 100,000 documents they work. The inspector stressed that communicates regularly with the Portuguese police, which closed its investigation into the disappearance in 2008, and expressed his hope that the authorities of the Luso reopen the case after the evidence from Scotland Yard.
