The Duchess of Cambridge thoroughly enjoys going shopping and has an almost uncanny eye for fashion. Basically middle-class at heart, nothing makes the former Kate Middleton happier than coming across a good bargain at her local store.
Prince William’s wife invariably picks out the right clothes, which then go on to become a rage world over. Therefore, it is no wonder that Duchess Kate has been bestowed the epithet of the ‘Style Queen’ by fashionistas. World-over, topmost designers and stylists are tripping over themselves to attire Kate’s statuesque model-like figure.
However, Duchess Kate herself prefers to endorse the age old British high street. She has been seen purchasing outfits at H&H and Gap on Kensington’s High Street, while her personal favorites seems to outfits from LK Bennett, Whistles, Reiss, Topshop and Oasis. Kate Middleton is more often than not, seen attired in their exquisite creations.
Even when it comes to decorating her own abode, the 30-year-old Duchess has an uncanny eye for detail, class and perfection. An artistic temperament coupled with a sharp eye for bargain, Duchess Kate likes nothing better than discovering unique artifacts in an antiques store, that too at a minimum cost.
But then she wouldn’t like to settle for just any price. Fact is Duchess is street smart too and so will not let anyone fleece her just because she is royalty. This is vouched by the owner of Youll’s Antiques, located close to her parent’s home in Berkshire.
The owner disclosed to Now Magazine: “Despite being royalty, she still asks for a discount on every purchase.” Well cannot blame Duchess Kate for her thriftiness, as bargaining seems to be running in her blood as an inherited trait from her Mom – Carole Middleton.
Youll’s owner says “Carole is a true bargain-hunter. She has always been very strict with her money and would never allow her daughter to be ripped off - so she taught her how to barter.” According to the owner, he always ends up giving the Duchess the best price. “How can you refuse a princess?” he concludes, quite obviously bitten by the Kate charm.
Another most endearing trait about Duchess Kate is that the lady does not shy away from re-cycling her outfits, even if it for the most high-profile engagement. Just last month when Catherine stepped out to give her first official speech at the launch of The Treehouse (children’s hospice) in Ispwich, Suffolk, she wore an eye-catching blue dress from Reiss, which her mom Carole had worn to Ascot in 2010.
