SEC. DEL ROSARIO SEEKS DIPLOMATIC RESOLUTION ON SCARBOROUGH SHOAL AS TENSION INCREASES WITH CHINA

Filipinos living in the United States who called themselves ‘Pinoys For Good Governance’ were planning a worldwide protest in front of Chinese embassies in major cities like Washington DC, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Houston, Vancouver, Sydney, Singapore, Rome and Hong Kong, over China’s forceful claim of Scarborough Shoal or Panatag Reef, Philippines government said was within its Economic Exclusive Zone.

Loida Nicolas Lewis of the Pinoys For Good Governance said “there is a form of call to action because right now we are being invaded. The most important is that they see that the global community led by Filipinos is going to stand up to their bullying. They should be shamed… Just because they're so strong that they can bully a tiny country like the Philippines.”

On Wednesday, Filipinos and American commandos conducted a drill as part of the annual war games supposedly to counter terrorism but appeared as if it was a show of force in accordance to a defense treaty between the Philippines and the United States coinciding with the recent standoff between Chinese and Philippines ships over the disputed area.

China was claiming everything on the South China Sea as it own but Filipinos here and in the US were ‘not taking things sitting down.’

The Philippines government has invited China to take the matter to the international tribunal but so far China has not made a reply.

China has yet to settle territorial disputes with other countries such as Vietnam, Brunei, Malaysia and Taiwan.

China claims everything. This is too much. I hope both countries will meet for a diplomatic solution regarding this.

thanks Jenifer if only China would agree to bring this matter to an international tribunal to settle this issue once and for all too.
