The U.K police on Wednesday said they will reopen the case of a British girl Madeleine McCann, who disappeared five years ago while on a vacation in Portugal. Authorities believed that the girl, who was aged three when she vanished and will turn 9-year old on May 12, may still be alive.
In May 2007, Madeleine, was reportedly went missing from a condo at Algarve resort while her parents Kate and Gerry McCann, dined at a nearby restaurant. At that time of her disappearance was supposedly her fourth birthday.
The video above shows Detective Chief Inspector Andy Redwood explaining that his team, which consists of 28 detectives and seven civilian support staff are investigating more than 40,000 pieces of information gathered by detectives.
Madeleine’s parents had also became suspects when the girl disappeared but they were already been cleared by authorities.
According to CNN news, the girl’s Portuguese investigators closed the case in July 2008. But Redwood’s team appeals to them and is seeking further to bring closure to the case as there were some reports saying that a girl bearing a resemblance of her, has been seen in various parts of the world.
