Kate and William's wedding was so enthralling that it was avidly watched by hundreds of millions of people across the globe. It proudly brought the British Royal family into the limelight as well.
However, one person to be completely stunned back then, at the massive outpouring of joy surrounding Kate and William's wedding has been none other than Queen Elizabeth herself. Her royal highness dazed reaction was that probably the world had “gone mad,” her own cousin has now revealed.
According to 70-year old Lady Elizabeth Anson, (a party planner who had organized a reception for foreign guests on the eve of the royal wedding); the Windsor family had never ever anticipated the tremendous enthusiam with which Kate and William's wedding would be celebrated by not just Britons but even people all over the globe.
Lady Elizabeth Anson disclosed to the Radio Times: “The Queen looked out at the banks of photographers outside and said to me, ‘They’ve all gone mad.’ Another one to fall for the Duchess’ charm, Lady Anson goes on to sing paeans about Prince William’s wife by saying that her flawless behavior had assured the Queen that the British monarchy’s future was in safe hands.
Duchess Kate had brought in “a sort of magic” into the family within just one year of her entry as a royal, lauded Lady Anson. “The people want glamour and I think she has given it to them in a wonderfully diverse way … She’s the real people’s princess,” she commented admiringly.
Further Lady Anson stated that the couple had taken to their respective roles with such ease it should be deemed “an absolute miracle.” She recalled that when Prince William and Duchess Kate went on their first official overseas tour to Canada last year, they did not take a dresser nor take a large retinue.
According to Lady Anson “That’s them saying their thing: ‘We haven't got cooks and butlers and cleaners coming out of our ears at home in Anglesey. We cook together; we do the washing up together. We lead a normal life.’”
With April 29, the royal couple’s first wedding anniversary just a few days away, in stark contrast to their high-profile nuptials, the much in love couple are all set to have a low-key celebration on Sunday to mark the anniversary probably at Balmoral family estate. Meanwhile a St James’s Palace spokesman has confirmed that Prince William and Duchess Kate will be spending this weekend privately.
