The former famous member of the Bee Gees band, Robin Gibb has been diagnosed with colorectal cancer and he may be in his last stages
Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb has colorectal cancer and according to his doctors, the cancer is in its advanced stage. The former singer is in the intensive care unit of a hospital and he recently woke from a coma. The recent health updates related to Robin Gibb were given by his doctor, Dr. Andrew Thillainayagam who told the reporters that Gibb had recently contracted pneumonia due to his weak immune system and he was weakened from the chemotherapy and two operations which he recently had. All these procedures were being carried out to rid Gibb of the colorectal cancer which he has, but sadly the cancer is in its last stages.
This is the first time that Robin Gibb's illness has been confirmed by an officials source, as last year the singer had just mentioned on his website that he was suffering from a grave disease, but he never provided any further details.
The 62-year-old singer went into a coma last week after he contracted the pneumonia. The doctor had told Gibb's family that he feared he would never come back to his senses but surprisingly he is now awake and is able to speak. According to Thillainayagam, Gibb's family had a major role in nursing him back to consciousness. According to a report by USAtoday.com, Thillainayagam said; "Robin's wife, Dwina and son, Robin-John, his son Spencer and daughter Melissa have been at his bedside every day, talking to him and playing his favorite music to him. They have been tireless in their determination never to give up on him."
Despite coming back to consciousness, Robin Gibb is extremely weak, malnourished and exhausted. He can only breathe with the help of an oxygen mask and is also taking anti-biotic medicines in addition to his cancer medication. He also cannot feed through his mouth and is taking his feed through intravenous source. "It is testament to Robin's extraordinary courage, iron will and deep reserves of physical strength that he has overcome quite incredible odds to get where he is now," Thillainayagam said in a statement, according to a report by USAtoday.com.
Robin Gibb's fans are sending get well messages from the world over and are praying for his recovery.
