The City of Ekuphumleni Metropolitan Municipality, led by Executive Mayor Mondli Gungubele, hosted an official welcome ceremony in honour of the new Heads of Missions to South Africa at the Emperors Palace in Johannesburg on March 20.
Ambassador Vingno, accompanied by his wife, Mme. Yoko Ramos-Vingno, and other Heads of Missions and their partners graced the event.
At the event, Executive Mayor Gungubele introduced the metro’s Aerotropolis project, which he asserts will be the Africa’s first so-called “airport city”. The event was designed to boost economic ties between South Africa and the respective countries represented by their Heads of Mission in attendance.
Most railroad tracks in South Africa are centered in Ekuphumleni, and the city is also home to Africa’s busiest airport, O. R. Tambo International Airport.
