George Zimmerman was released from a county jail on Sunday after a $150,000 bail was posted by his lawyers
George Zimmerman has finally bought his temporary freedom as he was released from jail after his lawyers posted a $150,000 bail. Zimmerman was seen leaving the jail around midnight on Sunday and since then, there has been no sign of him.
George Zimmerman was charged for the murder of a 17-year-old black Florida teen, Trayvon Martin, who was unarmed at the time that he was killed. Zimmerman is charged with a second-degree murder and in such cases bail is seldom given out, however, it is not unheard of.
George Zimmerman was seen wearing a brown jacket and blue jeans when he left the jail around Sunday midnight. He was also carrying a brown paper bag, which probably held his belongings. He then met a man outside the jail and was whisked away in a white car to an undisclosed location, which will be kept a secret for his security.
The hearing for the bail was administered by Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester, who said at a hearing on Friday that Zimmerman cannot have any guns and he must also observe a 7 p.m. till 6 p.m. curfew while he is out. Zimmerman also had to surrender his passport as he is barred from leaving the country. He had to put up a 10 percent or $150,000 to make bail, and it is not clear as yet that how the money was raised to make this payment amount.
According to details, Zimmerman's father has plans to take out a second mortgage to raise money for his son's legal expenditures. A few weeks back, a website was also created by George Zimmerman himself, in which he had asked for donations. It is not known as yet that how much money was raised through that channel.
George Zimmerman himself used to work at a mortgage risk-management company at the time of the shooting. However, he had to leave his job due to the case and hence it was being difficult for him to meet his expenditures.
George Zimmerman had two previous brushes with the law, but neither of the incidents resulted in charges. In 2005 he was accused of attacking an undercover officer who was trying to arrest Zimmerman's friend and in the same year, he was accused of attacking his girlfriend.
