Nicolas Sarkozy, the incumbent President of France, appears to be losing out in the Presidential election race to his Socialist rival Francois Hollande as reported in skynews of 23rd April 2012. His days as the President of France appear to be numbered.

Counting of 98% of votes has been completed and Francois Hollande has secured 28.6% of votes while Nicolas Sarkozy is trailing behind him with 27.1% of votes.

The 2nd round of votes would be held on 6th of May and the findings of an opinion poll indicate that Hollande might continue with the winning streak – the prediction is 56% - 44% in his favor which would be bad news for Sarkozy.

This poll was carried out by French public television and the French daily Le Monde newspaper.

The message is loud and clear - voters in France want a change of guard, they are disillusioned with the mainstream parties.
