The town of Candeleda on the banks of the beautiful Lobera River in Spain was faced with a major problem of how to keep their women in their places and a dating site is playing Cupid – it has come to its rescue as reported in The Telegraph of 22nd April 2012.
The problem was that the women were migrating out to neighboring cities in search of jobs and livelihood and, consequently, the bachelors in the village were unable to find suitable brides and the population of 6000 odd was precariously poised and dwindling.
However, thanks to a dating site, the problem appears to have been solved.
This dating site is ‘Asocamu’ – it was set up in 1995 with the main objective of promoting rural re-population. It organized parties for single men and women and encouraged them to interact and try to find a suitable match so that they could settle down to start a family.
It seems many small villages in Spain are facing threats of abandonment.
