Head-on collision between two trains in Amsterdam has left more than 20 injured and some of the injured are in a serious condition as reported in The Skynews of 21st of April 2012.

The accident happened near the station of Sloterdijk - one of these trains was an inter city express of Dutch Railways and the other was a smaller local sprinter as informed by a spokesman of Prorail.

The intercity train is a double-decker one and the passengers near the doors have been injured most – mostly from being flung about due to the sudden impact.

Investigation has been started to determine how two trains coming from different directions happened to be on the same track.

Due to this accident, there was a chaos and train service between the city’s Central station and Schipol airport was affected.
